Clowns, trumpets and armors
In a black Beethoven blender

Heavy skin deep powder gloves
Wooden legs on wooden floor
Dark honey spread between fingers
Surrounded by bugs and crows
The more the merrier

We began making diving suits
Because we got tired of wet telephones

In the church just beside the altar
A man was opening cans of dog food
Shaky hands and broken nose
The smell of winter on a blind man
Cancer in the water and lead in the liver

We began making planes
Because birds looked the other way

How many times must a man sneeze
Before the devil plays his trump card ?
On the last day of Allhallowtide
Roger said run and we ran
Longer legs and bender knees
Punch clocks up our sleeves
Coil springs for the heart
Salt in the eyes
Feet wide apart

We began breathing
Because choking was a full-time job
Songs of flies in the night
Dead dogs in the end
The Ballad of Peach Blossom Spring
And a darkness that never lies
